John O'Neill

John J. O’Neill of Liberty, NY, a retired mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority and a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 77.

The son of the late Michael and Bridget Conway O’Neill, he was born October 19, 1940 in Bronx, NY.

John served Our Country in the United States Air Force and he was a graduate of Sullivan County Community College. As a professional race car driver, he was known as “Tip O’Neill” and he was a longtime proud member of AA.

Survivors include his daughter, Kerri O’Neill of Port Chester, NY; one granddaughter, Zoe Lopez; his longtime companion, Rita Morris of Liberty, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11 AM in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.

Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
