John Ruff

John A. Ruff of Liberty, NY, a retired machinist for Ball Manufacturing, Middletown, NY, and a long time area resident, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 69.

The son of the late Winton D. and Agnes Mary Ellen Smith Ruff, he was born October 28, 1945 in Cornwall, NY.

John proudly served Our County in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967; he was a member of the VFW Clarence Hoyt Post # 9217, Liberty, NY; a member of the Russell D. Sprague American Legion Post # 109, Liberty, NY; a former 2nd Lieutenant of the Coldenham Fire Department; and an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include four sons, Gary Ruff of Durham, NC, Darrin Ruff and his wife Tracy of Otisville, NY, Kevin Ruff of Angier, NC, and John W. Ruff and his wife Monica of Hanover, PA; one daughter, Amy Wetzel and her husband Shawn of Hanover, PA; one sister, Joan Roe of Bridgeport, CT; one brother, Frank Ruff and his wife Mary of Monroe, NY; three step daughters, Lori Ann Conklin, Tammy Haddad and her husband Paul, and April Moe; two step sons, Richard Lewis and Ronald Lewis and his wife Melinda; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 10 AM - 12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 12 Noon in the funeral home. The Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
