John Schmidt

John Edward Schmidt of White Sulphur Springs, NY, the owner of Electro Electric, Liberty, NY and a long time area resident, died Monday, May 25, 2015 in Wayne County, PA. He was 71.

The son of the late Harold E. and Marguerite A. Van Riper Schmidt, he was born April 7, 1944 in Glen Ridge, NJ.

John was a former Town of Liberty Supervisor and he had served on the planning board for over 20 years; he was a member of the White Sulphur Springs Vol. Fire Department and a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge # 1545. John enjoyed traveling to Marco Island, FL in the winter and traveling to Lake Wallenpaupack in the summer.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Hazel M. Scott Schmidt, at home; two daughters, Jacqueline Goldworm of Sand Point, ID, and Kristina Sell and her husband Louis of Lyndhurst, NJ; two sons, James Schmidt and his wife Susan of Neversink, NY and Derek Schmidt and his wife Barbara Ann of Liberty, NY; one sister, Marilyn Eldredge and her husband Luther of Eastham, MA; nine grandchildren; six nephews; and several cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. The White Sulphur Springs Vol. Fire Dept. will conduct services Thursday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
