John Yelle

Jack Yelle, artist and watercolor instructor, ended his journey with pancreatic cancer on December 17, 2015, at the age of 81. He was born in Ridgewood, Brooklyn to John A. and Frances M. (Boyle) Yelle. After a tour of duty in the US Army, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Piereth on May 2nd, 1959 and began their 59 year honeymoon in College Point, Queens.

He enjoyed a long career as a technical illustrator for several major corporations and, after resuming studies at night school, became the advertising and sales promotion director for Varn International, a worldwide producer of chemicals for the printing industry.

On retirement, he and Patricia moved to Roscoe, NY, a village they discovered as campers in the 1980's. Here they operated Morning Star Creations, an art studio and gallery. Both Patricia and Jack love this community, as the home of generous, kind neighbors who always help others.

Jack was predeceased by his beloved in-laws, Raymond J. and Elsie Bietz Piereth and his sister, Janet M. and her husband, Robert Moffit.

Survivors include his loving best friend and wife, Patricia, their 4 children, Mary Elizabeth and her husband Javier Agredo of Brooklyn, NY, sons Raymond John Yelle and his wife Jill of Monmouth Junction, NJ and John Anthony Yelle and his wife Shawn of Bloomingburg, NY and Mary-Jeanne and her husband David McQuillan of Sloatsburg, NY. In addition, their 14 grandchildren: Marisol, Adrian, Matthew, CJ, Lucas, Lauren, Carinne, Lee, John Trevor, James, Lydia, twins Max and Dan, Casey and their first great granddaughter, Charlotte Sweet Pea.

The family wishes special thanks to the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County for their very sensitive and encouraging care. Special thanks are extended to Martha, Maria, Brother Tom and especially Meg Bowers.

The Rev. Ed Bader will preside at a private Mass for the family at Gate of Heaven RC Church.

A celebration of Jack's life will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 1-4 PM in the Roscoe Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Roscoe Cares" at 148 Rockland Road, Roscoe, NY 12776 or to Masses in his name.
