Justin T. Amato passed away unexpectedly from a tragic accident while hunting on Saturday, November 18, 2017. Born December 13, 1985 twin of Travis M. Amato in Oneonta. Growing up Justin shared time between homes in Chenango Forks and Downsville. Graduating from Downsville Central School in 2004. After graduation Justin worked at the family business Gladstone Insurance Agency and more recently managed rental properties. Justin took pride in being a member of the Downsville community. He belonged to the O&Y Hunting Club and the James S. Moore, Unit 167 American Legion for the past 15 years. Justin had a kind heart and would go out of his way to help others. Justin #60 was an accomplished snow-cross and drag racer taking many titles including “King of the Hill”. He was also a member of Delaware Valley Ridge Riders and participated in the demolition derby at the Delaware County Fair. Justin touched so many lives in his 31 years. He loved to dance and had an infectious smile that lit up the room. While Justin left us too soon his personality and smile along with his strong love for family and friends will always be in our hearts.

Justin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Charlie and Jackie Amato. His uncle Charlie Amato and uncle Dave Amato. His maternal grandfather Malcolm Terry.

Justin is survived by his great uncle Dominic Amato of NJ, father James Amato and wife JoAnn of Downsville, sister Lesa Amato Farrell and husband Chris of Greenfield, brothers Tony Amato of Downsville and twin brother Travis Amato and wife Linnea of Castle Creek. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Buck and Diane Edwards, aunt Brenda Amato all of Downsville, and aunt Joan Amato of Florida. He is survived by maternal grandmother Joyce Terry of Hamden, mother Ginny Amato and husband Rick of Chenango Bridge, aunt and uncle Teresa and Lynn Skinner of Hamden, and aunt and uncle Betsy and Glenn Mattice of Hamden. Cousins Dominic, Michael (Sue-Anne), Brian (Gail), Charles “Chuck” (Naises), Brad (Jenna), Lara (Josh), Nicole (Jimmy). Justin was a very special uncle to Logen, Keegen, Adysen, Colten and James. Numerous second cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave, Roscoe NY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12 PM at the Colchester Community United Methodist Church, Main Street, Downsville NY.  Lunch to follow at the Downsville Fire Hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Justin’s name can be made to the James S. Moore, Unit 167 American Legion, PO Box 104 Downsville NY, 13755.
