Kyle J. Muthig

Kyle J. Muthig of Liberty, NY a Corporal for the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department and a lifelong area resident died Monday, September 4, 2023.  He was 45.

The son of Paul and Cheryl Sprague Muthig, he was born February 28, 1978 in Harris, NY.

Kyle proudly served Our Country in the US Marine Corps. from 1997 to 2001; he was a member of the Sullivan County PBA; a New York State Fire Arms Instructor and a member of the Special Weapons and Tactical Team at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department. Kyle was a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and a member of the Aden Hill Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dina Rodriguez Muthig, at home; his daughter, Olivia Muthig; his parents, Paul and Cheryl Muthig of Liberty, NY; his siblings, Sheryl Muthig of White Sulphur Springs, NY; Valerie Mott of Woodridge, NY; Kari Hawkins and her husband Cecil of Amsterdam, NY; Krista Muthig of Kissimmee, FL and Paul Muthig and his wife Christine of MN; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lillian Rodriguez of Liberty, NY; two brothers-in-law, James Rodriguez of Smallwood, NY and Enricky Rodriguez of Monticello, NY.  Kyle is also survived by his Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department family; Paul and Connie Zanini who called Kyle their “Country Son”; his “camping partners” and George and Maggie Baxter who were as close as family can be.

Visitation will be Friday September 8, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, NY. 

Graveside services and burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Kyle's name may be made to an Educational Fund for his daughter Olivia, C/O M&T Bank, 1983 State Route 52, Liberty, NY 12754 or to Lifeline for Vets at National Veterans Foundation, 5777 West Century Boulevard, Suite 350, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
