Leigh Benton

Leigh "Bubs" Benton of Liberty, NY, a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Liberty and a lifelong area resident died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 56.

The son of the late Richard A. Benton and Sydney Rappaport Benton, he was born May 4, 1960 in Liberty, NY.

Bubs was a member of the Liberty Fire Department - J.C. Young Hose Company #1; he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Brittany Benton of Ferndale, NY; one brother, Jonathan Benton; one sister, Stacey Benton; his companion, Audrey Woolard; his aunt and uncle, Myra and Harry Morse and his cousin Rori Morse all of Liberty, N.Y.; his aunts, Brenda Benton, and Debbie Benton of Liberty, NY; one uncle, Robert Benton and his wife Sherri of Liberty, NY; his niece, Marissa Benton; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Benjamin Benton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM at the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Firematic services will be conducted at 8 P.M.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10 A.M. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY. immediately after the service.
