Lester Hogencamp

Lester T. "Bucky" Hogencamp of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Ferndale and Swan Lake and a lifelong area resident died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83.

The son of the late Isaac T. and Maude E. DeWitt Hogencamp, he was born March 31, 1933 in Middletown, NY.

Bucky was a member and trustee of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church; he also sang in the church choir. He was an active member for over 65 years of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department; where he was a Fire Policeman and served on the BBQ Crew. He is a past commissioner for the White Sulphur Springs Fire District. Bucky was a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge # 1545; an active member of the White Sulphur Springs - Sullivan Renaissance Group; he had been a member of the Liberty Barbershop Quartet; and a former co-owner of KJBL Electronics Inc. He was an avid hunter and wine maker.

Survivors include his wife, Sue McOmber Hogencamp, at home; one son, Charles L. Hogencamp and his wife Sandra of Cape Coral, FL; one daughter, Eileen S. Hogencamp of Livingston Manor, NY; one grandson, Matthew C. Hogencamp and his wife Sarah of Nicholasville, KY; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Grant and Elsie Tate.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Firematic services will be conducted Wednesday at 7 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11 AM in the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Route 52, White Sulphur Springs, NY. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.
