Lester C. Quick, Sr. of Jeffersonville, NY, a self-employed logger and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, December 19, 2013. He was 64.
The son of the late Lester and Gertrude Quick, he was born May 27, 1949.
Lester grew up in Roscoe and has lived in Jeffersonville for many years. Owner of Les Quick Logging he spent a lot of time in the woods surrounding the Roscoe area and knew them very well. Lester was an avid Hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Roosevelt Rod and Gun Club. Lester was very well known in the area and respected by all who knew him. He was always willing to help others in need and would never take anything in return. He had a passion for Stock Car racing supporting many of the local drivers at the speedway in White Lake, where he spent his Saturday nights. Whether he was driving, wrenching or just spectating everyone knew if they needed something Lester would be there to support them any way he could.
Survivors include his longtime companion and fiancé, Elsie Gannon; one daughter, Sandy of Monticello, NY; one son Lester of Monticello, NY; one sister, Edna Crawson of Long Eddy, NY; one brother, Paul Cox of Roscoe, NY; several nieces, nephews and his best bud JW Gannon. Lester is predeceased by one brother Bert Cox.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Susan Shields will officiate.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
