Louise H. Melchick of Liberty, NY, a retired telephone operator for AT&T, Monticello, NY and a long time area resident, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home. She was 90.
The daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Bayshansky Haberland, she was born September 19, 1921 in Manhattan, NY.
Louise was a Communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Liberty and a former member of the Catholic Daughters; she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American and the Town of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corp. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four sons, John Melchick and his wife Judy of Livingston Manor, NY, Michael Amelchenya of New York City, Fred Melchick of Parksville, NY and Stephen Melchick of Parksville, NY; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her brother, Fred Haberland.
Visitation will be Thursday (today) January 12, 2012 from 3-6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 13, 2012 at 12 noon in St. Peter's R. C. Church 264 North Main Street, Liberty, NY. Monsignor Edward Straub will officiate.
Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery Cold Spring Road, Liberty, NY.
