Lynne A. Albee, age 77 of Canton, GA passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Albee is survived by her husband; Roger Kohler Albee, Canton, GA, sons; Brad Albee, Canton, GA, Mark (Kellie) Albee, Bozeman, MT, Brother; Don Schubert, MD, sister; Leni (Bert) Springstead, PA, sister-in-law; JoAnn Schubert, grandchildren; Andrea, Allison, Nick, Peter, Shelby, great grandchildren; Bear, Samara.
Lynne grew up in both New York and New Jersey with her parents Fred and Elsa, brother Don and sister Elaine, graduating from Ridgewood (NJ) High School in 1956 before attending Bucknell (PA) University where she met her best friend and life-long loving husband Roger. Together they graduated in the spring of 1960 and were married that summer. They had an unshakeable bond together over the next 56 years. After college they wound from CA to TX to an Army posting in West Germany where little Mark was born- after repatriating Brad was born in Roger's hometown of Roscoe, NY in 1963 and she found another calling- Mom. Brad and Mark remember her warm heart and hands through trips, overnights, math, spelling, little league, cross-country, basketball, weddings, spouses and grandkids. She was always there as they moved from WI to Illinois to Ohio and PA before settling in Atlanta in 1973. Most of all though are not the events but the strong, smart, beautiful and caring woman who was their mother.
She enjoyed many pursuits, starting study for her master's in education before jumping into motherhood. She swam, painted, cooked, bowled, rode motorcycles and played tennis over the years. She devoted countless hours and energy to remaining connected with their parents- all four of whom retired in Sarasota, FL which became the site for family vacations too numerous to mention. Roger and Lynne worked together to develop Stephens Ministry training- eventually graduating over 100 people into a worthy calling for their communities. When Roger entered more independent business roles, Lynne partnered with him in many ways until they retired together in the Atlanta area in 1990, where they have lived ever since. They traveled world-wide, enjoying the diversity of life, art and nature- including many trips to Montana where Mark has lived for over 25 years. She loved spending time with her sons, grandchildren, nieces and multitudes of friends and other family.
Roger and his sons are grateful for the immediate outpouring of love showered on them in a difficult time. No formal local services are planned as Lynne requested that neither a funeral nor a memorial be undertaken. When Roger is able, he will begin reaching out in celebration to their many friends. A final farewell gathering will take place at the end of September in Roscoe, NY.
