Margaret Ackerley

The world has lost an angel. Margaret E. Ackerley of Kauneonga Lake, NY, a

homemaker and lifelong area resident died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation and Residential Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY. She was 102.

The daughter of the late Charles and Ellen (McGaughran) McGuire, she was born September 7, 1913 in Neversink, NY. Margaret enjoyed sewing and reading the bible. She enjoyed dancing, walking, gardening and singing; and mostly she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing and is a published poet.

Survivors include five daughters and two sons; Marian Wegman of Swan Lake, NY, Marjorie Fairbairn of Swan Lake, NY, Virginia Kiefer of FL, April Malara and her husband Robert of Jeffersonville, NY and FL, and Cindy Barber and her husband Edward of White Lake, NY; Richard Ackerley of ME, and Donald Ackerley and his companion Colleen of NC. Margaret had many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two daughter- in-laws who she loved dearly; Maria Ackerley of Grahamsville, NY and Lisa Ackerley of White Sulphur Springs, NY.

She was predeceased by her husband Arnold C. Ackerley, Sr. in 1980, four sons, Wesley C. Ackerley, Roy P. Ackerley, Eugene S. Ackerley, and Arnold C. Ackerley, Jr. and two daughters, Joy Dawn Ackerley and Caroline M. Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday, October 12, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10 AM at the Harris Funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.

Memorial contributions in Margaret's name may be made to the Bethel Smallwood Senior Citizens Club, PO Box 612, Kauneonga Lake, NY 12749.
