Margaret Ann MacLeod Tremper

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce that Margaret Ann MacLeod Tremper, of Roscoe, NY, a long-time resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at home. She was 93. 

The daughter of the late LZ Mitchell, and Rae Abigail Clemo, she was born in Sarasota, Florida, September 22, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald R MacLeod, and her beloved daughter, Rebecca Jean MacLeod. 

Margaret, was a pillar of strength, faith, love and decency, and her life was spent in the service of people, her church, and her family. She was devoted to her Christian beliefs, first as the wife of a minister, and then as a lay minister, and organist for the Roscoe Presbyterian church, where she carried on ministering in the wake of her husband’s passing many years before. 

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for 5 decades, only retiring in 2020. Our mother also worked as a journalist for various local newspapers over the years, writing being one of the greatest passions of her life. Whether it be composing sermons, writing articles, poetry, or stories, the written word was as important to her as was air. Nearly everyday of her life she recorded the passage of her life in her journals, over a cup of morning coffee, and a view of the forest behind her home. She was an accomplished singer and musician, and she would often play her marimba as part of her church services, much to the delight of her fellow parishioners. 

We can’t think of her without also thinking about how important faith and the church was to her. She endowed all those around her with goodness and love, and was a living example of the beliefs that she so passionately imparted unto others. And now it is her time to be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven. 

She is survived by her daughters Wendy Karp, and her husband Jerry, of Hamden, Connecticut, Katherine Moroney, and her partner Richard, of Walton, NY, and her sons, William MacLeod of Roscoe, NY, Mark Macleod, and his wife, Kim, of Fly Creek, NY, and Ian Macleod, of Roscoe, NY. Her grandchildren, Ryan, Melanie, Laura, Matthew, Sean, and Rachael, and her great grandchildren, Emily, Michael, Nathan, Caelynn, Sierra, Natasha, Madyson, Aiyleen, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Chloe, Joshua, and Nolan. 

A graveside service will be held on April 25, 2025 at 10 AM in the River View Cemetery in Roscoe, NY, followed by a celebration of life at 11 AM in the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, Old Route 17, Roscoe, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to the Roscoe, Presbyterian Church, in Roscoe, NY.
