Marilou Lacey

Marilou D. Lacey of Downsville, NY, a retired certified nurse assistant at the Roscoe Nursing Home, Roscoe, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, NY. She was 77.

The daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Aleatha O'Dell Young, she was born December 3, 1938 in Peakville, NY.

Marilou was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Downsville, NY; a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the James S. Moore American Legion Post # 167; and she was an original member of the Downsville Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary. Marilou loved working at the Roscoe Nursing Home and found her job as a CNA very rewarding. Prior to her work at the nursing home she had worked at the A&P in Downsville and at the Round Up Ranch. She loved holidays, especially the Christmas Eve parties at her home; she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Bingo, her scratch-off tickets, flower gardening, dancing and especially calling a square dance. She took great pride in all that she did.

Survivors include her husband, Richard G. Lacey, at home; two daughters, Julie Markert and her husband Thomas of Downsville, NY and Dawn D'Addezio and her husband Chris of Downsville, NY; two grandsons, Thomas Markert, II and Garrett D'Addezio and Tanicia; two granddaughters, Crystal Wood and Brett and Brittany Kirchner and Troy; two great grandsons, Brantley and Silas; several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece, Michele and her husband Mikal and a special nephew, Kenny Young and his wife Janice and their children.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Rose Lacey in 1979; and two brothers, Kenneth R. Young and Gary Young.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 12 Noon to 3 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 3 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Shank will officiate.

Burial will be private in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY.
