Mary Woods

Mary L. Woods of Parksville, NY, a long-time area resident, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Achieve Rehab. and Nursing Facility, Liberty, NY. She was 96.

The daughter of the late John A. and Louisita Lange O’Brien, she was born February 7, 1927 in Stapleton, Staten Island, NY.

Mary was a retired bookkeeper for the Sullivan County National Bank in Liberty, NY; she enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made afghans and baby blankets for all of her family members.

Survivors include her children, Michael Woods and his wife Jane of Parksville, NY, Steven Woods and his wife Kathleen of Medical Lake, WA, David Woods and his wife Lisa of Simsbury, CT and Claudia Straniere and her husband Michael of Watervliet, NY; six grandchildren, Matthew Woods (Jennifer), Rebecca Woods (Dustin), Christopher Woods (Kerry), Andrew Woods (Olivia), Jordan Woods, and Daniel Beaudet (Kara); one great grandson, Owen Woods; one brother-in-law, John Strizzi; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and her dear friend Ann Stephenson. She was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Strizzi; and her grandson Gregory.

A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11 AM in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, NY 12754.
