Matthew A. Gadziala, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia died on June 25, 2013 having struggled courageously with cancer. Born on October 28, 1942, in Oneonta, New York; he was the second of five children, born of and preceded by the late Matthew A. Gadziala and Marion Toles. Having been raised in Liberty New York in his youth, he moved to Atlanta and earned a M.B.A. in Finance from Georgia State University. He retired from General Motors, having worked for the same company for forty years as an engineer. Living in the north Atlanta metro area, he raised four children. In his retirement, especially, he enjoyed golf and world - wide traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Catholic and a devoted family man, a doting husband, loving father and grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Melody (Neal) Music; and his four children, Mr. Matthew A. Gadziala, III and his wife Pamela Ashby of Tuscon Arizona, Reverend Timothy A. Gadziala, VG, JV of Atlanta, Ms. Connie J. Gadziala of Atlanta and Mr. Christopher A. Gadziala of Snellville. He is preceded by his brother Joseph Gadziala of Binghamton, New York. He is survived by his sister Ms. Susan E. Gadziala of Liberty, NY, Dr. Thomas S. Gadziala, D.D.S and his spouse Mr. Kevin Rhodes of Fox Island, Washington, and Anne P. Gadziala and her husband Mr. Harold G. Huggler, III of Parksville, NY. Moreover, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He has two step sons, Mr. Robert Neal and his wife Maria Gonzalez of Ormond Beach, Florida and Mr. David Neal and his wife Mary Margaret Johnson of Atlanta Georgia. He loved his six grandchildren very much: Matthew A. Gadziala, IV, Jaquelyn A. Gadziala, Robby Neal, Jack Neal, Pete Neal and Sam Neal.
A Memorial Mass will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church 264 North Main Street, Liberty, NY, Saturday July 6, 2013 at 11:00am, followed by being laid to rest with his family at St. Peter's Cemetery, Liberty, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home in Atlanta, 760 Pollard Blvd., S.W. Atlanta, Georgia 30315, in memory of Matthew A. Gadziala.
