Melvina Kelly

Melvina Elizabeth Kelly, born to Margaret and Joseph Belmont on March 22, 1923 in Lemoore, Ca. peacefully passed in the Roscoe Rehab. and Residential Health Care Facility this past Easter, April 16, 2017. This would have been her 73rd wedding anniversary with her husband Edward "Mike" Kelly, who passed in 2006.

After high school, Melvina attended a Community College to take courses for nursing. Once the war broke out Melvina left College and went to work at the Naval Air Force base in Lemoore, Ca. repairing damaged WW II aircraft parts. During this time, she met her husband, a sergeant in the Air Force, while he was a Valley Fever patient at the US Navel Hospital. After the war she moved to Liberty, NY with her husband and raised 5 children. Melvina had a love of books, gardening, and embracing her creative side through ceramics, needlepoint, and her beautiful cake decorating.

Melvina was predeceased by three of her children, Kevin Kelly, Pamela Kelly Mootz, and Patricia Kelly Williams, two of her granddaughters, Shana and Heather Kelly, and her brother Thomas Belmont. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Kelly (Duke) Osterhout, and her son Joseph Belmont (Ana) Kelly, her ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

The graveside services and burial will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11 AM in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
