Miriam Kellam

Miriam Kellam of Mileses, NY, a retired registered nurse and a long time area resident died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at her home.  She was 91 years old.

The daughter of the late Jack and Louise Herde Van Ginhoven, she was born July 16, 1925 in New York City, NY.

Miriam was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She started her nursing career in the late 1940's in New York City, then worked in Sullivan County at Liberty Loomis hospital and later at Callicoon Hospital.  Miriam loved the outdoors and the view from her front porch at the farm, she was an avid reader and loved literature.  She loved to cook and many happy times took place in her kitchen.  She was interested in classical music, art, the natural world and her garden. But most of all, she loved her girls and her family - one and all.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Allen Kellam at home; four daughters, Daryl Cucci and her husband Richard, Alison Krull and her husband Charlie, Laura Pratt and her husband Dennis, and Janet DiBiase and her husband Steve; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Van Ginhoven and his wife Doris; and several nieces and nephews; also, by her loving and devoted caretakers, Lynn Ayelsworth, Gerda Wolfe, Buffy Chaffee and Sandy; and her loving dog Jake.

Miriam was predeceased by a son, David James Tobin; a daughter, Priscilla Elias; and a granddaughter, Melissa Krull.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.  Funeral services will be Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 12 Noon in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Miriam's name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 for their excellent care during Miriam's illness.
