Molly Aruty

Molly was born on November 15, 1934 to Morris and Lillian Aruty in Brooklyn NY.   She was the youngest of six children.  In February 1947, Molly was placed at Letchworth Developmental Center.  On May 5th 1985, Molly moved to the Center for Discovery’s Hamilton House.  From there she moved to the CSA Thanksgiving Farm. In June 2000, she moved with her friends to the Otis Armstrong residence at the Center, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Molly was a very classy and spirited woman, who loved the finer things in life. She took pride in her surroundings and loved to collect fine jewelry, art and had a wonderful eye for fashion.  Molly worked at the CSA farm in the greenhouse and in later years enjoyed working with the animal care program.

Molly enjoyed classic movies, music and dining out. She was a wonderful friend, sister and aunt.  She overcame many obstacles in life and became a wonderful advocate for herself and her friends that lived at the Center for Discovery.  She leaves behind a legacy that will live on.  She was a remarkable teacher to all who met and worked with her.  Fly high our friend and thanks for the memories!! We will miss you!!

A Celebration of Molly’s life will be held at the Big Barn at The Center for Discovery, 54 Discovery Ridge Rd, Hurleyville, NY on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 1pm.
