Norman Myers

Norman H. Myers of Liberty, NY, the retired owner of the Arco Service Station in Liberty, NY and a lifelong area resident died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY. He was 98.

The son of the late Norman B. and Bertha Eldred Myers, he was born August 15, 1917 in Eldred, NY.

Norman was a communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY; he was a Life Member and past captain of the Liberty Fire Department-Hose & Truck Co. #2; he proudly served Our Country in the US Army during WW II; was a member of the Clarence Hoyt VFW Post #9217 , Liberty, NY; a member of the Russel D. Sprague American Legion Post #109 , Liberty, NY; and he was a member of the Fr. Cronin Council #4768 - Knights of Columbus, Liberty, NY.

Survivors include his eight sons, Frank G. Myers and his wife Phyllis of Rock Hill, SC, Gerald N. Myers and his wife Rita of Lewiston, ID, Thomas A. Myers and his wife Patricia of Poughkeepsie, NY, John H. Myers and his wife Robin of Norwich, CT, Henry J. Myers and his companion Ann of Liberty, NY, Edward J. Myers and his wife Gloria of Richmond, VA, William P. Myers and his wife Donna of Pine Bush, NY and Michael D. Myers and his wife Nora of Watertown, CT; 23 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Sullivan Myers on June 10, 2005 whom he married May 29, 1942 in St. Bernard's Church in New York City and one brother, Frances Myers in 1936.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Firematic services will be conducted Sunday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 264 No. Main Street, Liberty, NY. Father William Scifidi will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Norman's name may be made to the Liberty Fire Department, Hose & Truck Co. #2, 256 Sprague Ave. Liberty, NY 12754.
