Norman Niemann

Norman E. Niemann of Ferndale, NY, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Village of Liberty and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 66.

The son of the late Charles Frank and Martha Cross Niemann he was born July 13, 1948 in Liberty, NY.

Norman was a forty-seven year member of the Liberty Fire Department-Ontario Hose Co. # 3 and he was a former member of the Covered Bridge Hunting Club. He enjoyed camping, country music and his old car.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine A. McGuire Niemann, at home; three daughters, Melissa Murphy and her husband Kevin of Youngsville, NY, Lisa Doyle and her husband Meade of Midlothian, VA and Tanya Gaebel and her husband Cory of Livingston Manor, NY; six grandchildren, Christopher Murphy, Adam Murphy, Kristen Doyle, Monica Doyle, Andrew Gaebel and Emma Gaebel; three brothers, Harrison "Sam" Niemann and his wife Mary, Robert Niemann and his wife Sharon, and William Niemann and his wife Susan; five sisters, Edith Van Loan, Marjorie Gorton and her husband Warren, Ardith Gorr, Lillian Boyle and her husband Robert, and Darlene Rankin and her husband George; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Niemann.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Firematic services will be conducted by members of the Liberty Fire Department Sunday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11 AM in the funeral Home. The Rev. Francis Waite will officiate.

Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery Cold Spring Road, Liberty, NY.

Memorial contributions in Norman's name may be made to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
