Olga Alver

Olga K. Alver, 97, of Parksville, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Cobleskill on November 13, 2015. She was born in Flekkefjord, Norway on November 8, 1918 to Ole and Karen Alver and emigrated to America with her parents when she was 11 years old. She married Theodore M. Alver on November 6, 1943. She was a lifelong homemaker and raised her family at their home on Long Island before retiring to Parksville in 1974. She served as a Girl Scout Leader on Long Island for many years. She always enjoyed the time she spent with the Ladies Aide Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liberty and her friends at the Helping Hands group in Lew Beach. She especially enjoyed all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great-great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Marie K. Schaefer (Richard) of Cobleskill and Loretta Duarte (Rod Conrow) of Parksville; her grandchildren, Michelle Schaefer (Steve Renaud) of Mariaville, Steven Duarte (Jenel) of Parksville, Stacey Cherven (Scott) of Mahwah, New Jersey, Bryan Schaefer (Tammy Althiser) of Cobleskill and Keith Duarte (Jennifer) of Kerhonkson; great grandchildren Jeremy Bean (Candice), Tyler Briggs, Lauren and Alexa Cherven, Sophia Duarte, Hunter Duarte and great-great grandchildren, Lillian and David Bean, her sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Cissi Alver, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and her granddaughter, Sherry Schaefer Bean; her parents; sister, Clara Larsen; brothers, Mortimer, Ingvald and Andreas Alver.

Visitation will be Monday, November 16 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. The Rev. Johnna Andritz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Liberty.
