Patricia A. Hettema

Patricia A. Hettema of Roscoe, NY, formerly of Brooksville, FL, a retired tax clerk for the County of Sullivan, Monticello, NY and longtime area resident died Monday, October 21, 2024 at her home. She was 78.

The daughter of the late Tice Cornlius and Ruth Edith Wooley Hettema, she was born May 22, 1946 in Warwick, New York.

Patricia enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was known as the family “taxi” driver.

Survivors include four daughters, Dawn M. Houghtaling-Lahey and her husband Timmy of Smallwood, NY, Edith Knapp of Brooksville, FL, Jennifer Brock and her husband Merlin of Roscoe, NY, and Morningstar Winand of Roscoe, NY; five sister, Eileen Reimer of North Branch, NY, Sharon Hettema of Hawaii, Barbara Vrsecky and her husband John of West Milford, NJ, Diane LaPolt and her husband Charles of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Kathy Rivera-Jones and her husband Van of Parksville, NY; one brother, Tice Hettema, II and his wife Dianne of West Milford, NJ; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Vernon Houghtaling, Jr.; one daughter, Becky Crown; her companion Dominic Joyce; and her favorite uncle, Oscar "Ott" Hettema.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. 

Funeral services will be Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Robin Sostak will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Memorial Cemetery, Fairlawn, NJ.
