Patricia "Patsy" Marshalek

Patricia (Patsy) Ann Marshalek, 87, of Woodbourne, NY, left this world on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, into the waiting arms of Jesus.

Patsy was the third child of Charles L. and Ann J. Sullivan Bennett.  She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1951; then attended Cortland State Teachers College before marrying in November 1952.  Her husband was in the military service, and she traveled with him to Topeka, KS, Newmarket, England, and El Paso, TX.  She then moved to her beautiful home in November of 1957 where she lived for 65 years.

Patsy’s career consisted of 15 years at her family business.  Then at Sullivan County Division of Family Services and at the Public Health Nursing Service from which she retired in 2002 after 25 years of service.

Patsy had a long career of community service and volunteerism.  She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Woodbourne.  She was also a member of the Sullivan County Historical Society, the Cragsmoor Historical Society, a longtime volunteer at the Castle Point VA Hospital, and a charter member of the Time and Valleys Museum in Grahamsville, NY.  She was a member of the WWII Museum and the Prime Timers Club at the Temple Sholom in Monticello, NY.  Later in life, she was a volunteer for the RSVP of the Sullivan County Office of the Aging.  In 2005, she was named Senior Citizen of the Year for the Town of Fallsburg.  She supported the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Wilderstein Preservation, The Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation, The Honors Flights for Veterans, and returned bottles and cans for the People to People Foundation for 20 years.

Her favorite pastime was tending her beautiful yard.  Every summer it was a wonder to behold, and she took great joy in her labors.

Patsy is survived by her nephews, Brian Litts of Lake George, NY, Keith Litts and his wife Debbie and their daughter Emaline of Rutland, VT; her godchildren, Mark Koval of Los Angeles, CA; Carol Anne Gordon Arriago of Dayton, NJ; and her constant companion, Kate.
