Pauline Anne Thompson of Westbrookville, NY, a retired registered nurse and longtime area resident, died Saturday, June 29, 2024 while being cared for at the home of her daughter in Wurtsboro, NY. She was 97.

The daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine Kravitz Oakley, she was born June 28, 1927 in Plymouth, PA.

Pauline began her nursing career when she proudly served Our Country in the US Navy from 1950 - 1959. She met her husband Ward while they were both stationed in the same hospital in Los Angeles, and married in 1953. Pauline and Ward drove cross country numerous times prior to settling in Ramsay, NJ and starting their family. After moving to Westbrookville, she worked at St Francis hospital in Port Jervis and then at the Middletown State hospital before her retirement in 1989. She was an avid NY Mets fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Roe and her husband William of Wurtsboro; son, Paul Thompson and his partner, Timothy Kemplin of KY; two grandsons, Shawn and Keith Roe; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Pauline is predeceased by her spouse Ward; brother Robert; and sister Elizabeth.

Dignified cremation is being provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC.

Private services with burial will be held at the Westbrookville Cemetery, Westbrookville, NY.

Memorial contributions in Pauline's name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
