Raymon L. "Sonny" Bull, Jr. of Roscoe, NY, a retired Watershed Inspector for the City of New York Board of Water Supply and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home. He was 84.
The son of the late Raymon L., Sr. and Helen O'Connor Bull, he was born February 27, 1931 in Middletown, NY.
Ray proudly served Our Country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict; he was a 59 year member, past commander, and past sergeant-at-arms of the James S. Moore American Legion Post # 167, Downsville, NY; after being discharged from the Air Force, Ray returned home to the family dairy farm where he worked and raised sheep; he was a former Weblo Scout leader for eight years of Pack # 107; he was a former president of the Miller Heights Home Owners Association and the water plan operator for Miller Heights; for 42 years, he was a caretaker for the Women's Fly Fishing Association in Beaverkill, NY; and he was a charter member of the Camp Takiterleevit Hunting Club, Downsville, NY. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Friday night happy hour with his friends; driving around town with his dog, Jeter; he cherished family gatherings and time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful example of a great father and husband and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Assurance as a believer, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Theresa M. McGuire Bull, at home; two sons, Thaddeus Bull and his wife Ruby of Downsville, NY and Timothy Bull and his wife Jennifer of Roscoe, NY; one daughter, Deniese Harting and her husband Jonathan of Roscoe, NY; one sister, Audrey Stanton of Walton, NY; two brothers, Douglas Bull and his wife Jean of Delancey, NY and Richard Bull of Sidney, NY; six grandchildren, Serena Harting, Elaina, Dorothy, and Raymon Bull, and Brooke and Samantha Bull; one brother in law, James Schliff; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
He was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Bull Schliff.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY. The James S. Moore American Legion Post # 167 will conduct services at 8:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, February 26, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Aloysius Church, Livingston Manor, NY. Father Edward Bader will officiate.
Burial will be in Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Ray's name may be made to the James S. Moore American Legion Post # 167, PO Box 104, Downsville, NY 13755.
