Reginald Steele

Reginald J. Steele of Horton Brook, NY, a retired employee for the State of New York Department of Transportation-Hancock Office, and a lifelong area resident, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab. & Residential Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY. He was 89.

The son of the late John B. and Edith P. Shew Steele, he was born February 27, 1923 in the Town of Colchester.

Reginald attended the East Branch Community Church, he was a member and past president of the Beaverkill Land Owners Association and a Town of Colchester Republican Committeeman. He was a farmer, stonecutter and an avid gardener.

Survivors include one son, Gary Steele and his wife Jill of Downsville, NY; one grandson, Michael Steele and his wife Lorie of Horton Brook, NY; one granddaughter, Jennifer Tompkins and her husband Richard of Somers Point, NJ; five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife Helen A. Conklin Steele in 2007.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Funeral Services will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11 AM in East Branch Community Church East Branch, NY. The Rev. Paul H. Cicio will officiate.

Burial will be in the Horton Cemetery, Horton, NY.
