Richard Davis

Richard H. Davis of Swan Lake, NY, a retired highway superintendent for the Village of Liberty and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, NY with his loving family at his side. He was 70.

The son of the late Chester, Sr. and Isabell King Davis, he was born March 22, 1944 in Swan Lake, NY.

Rich was a member of the Liberty Elk's Lodge # 1545 and a former Elk of the Year; he is a former member of the J. C. Young Hose Co. # 1, Liberty, NY; a Life Member of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen's Assoc. (Red Vests); a member of the NYS Association of Highway Superintendents Assoc.; and for the last couple of years had been employed by Sullivan County BOCES. Rich will be remembered for his craftsmanship as a carpenter and for the quality time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Van Aken Davis at home; one son, Cliff Davis and his companion, Amanda Sullivan of Liberty, NY; two daughters, Tina Bauernfeind and her husband Melvin of Rock Bridge Baths, VA and Lorrie Ackerley and her husband Daniel of Kenoza Lake, NY; two brothers, Chester Davis, Jr. and his wife Anita of Swan Lake, NY and William Davis and his wife Grace of Swan Lake, NY; five grandchildren, Nicole Bauernfeind, Samantha, Liam, Ryan, and Kaleb Davis; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, The Rev. Kenneth Davis and two sisters, Lois Davis and Ethel Gabrielsen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 10 AM until 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY

Liberty Elk's Lodge # 1545 will conduct services Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1 PM in the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1:15 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.

Memorial contributions in Rich's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
