Richard Hovey
Richard J. Hovey of Liberty, NY, a retired employee of the Browns Hotel in Loch Sheldrake, NY and a long time area resident died Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Liberty, NY. He was 87.
The son of the late George and Edna Sheehan Hovey, he was born September 3, 1934 in New York City, NY.
Richard proudly severed Our Country in the United State Army; he was an avid NY Rangers and NY Yankee fan. He never married.
Survivors include many of his dear friends, including Victoria Kaufman and her companion Marshall Barrett and Lewis and Gretchen Gerow. He was predeceased by the love of his life Maureen.
Visitation will be Monday, October 4, 2021 from 6-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Monday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home. As a sign of his devotion to the Rangers, mourners visiting the funeral home are asked to wear Ranger Colors.
Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY at a later date.
