Richard Neer

Richard I. Neer of Roscoe, NY, a retired bluestone cutter and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 73.

The son of the late John and Ethel Brainard Neer, he was born November 2, 1940 in Hancock, NY.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Banks Neer, at home; three daughters, Chella Ascatigno and her spouse Doreen Ascatigno of Rock Hill, NY, Jacqueline Jaindl and her husband Michael of East Branch, NY and Kimberly Neer and her life partner Deogracias "Chase" Figueroa of Parksville, NY; one brother, Roger Neer and his wife Gloria of Roscoe, NY, one sister Shirley Steele of Roscoe, NY; four grandchildren, Christopher Jaindl and his wife Vatisia, Matthew Cavanagh, Marissa Figueroa, and Alexander Figueroa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen and Ruth and by one brother, John, Jr.

Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014 from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. JoAnne Utley will officiate.

Burial will be in the Horton Cemetery, Horton, NY in the spring.
