Robert "Bobby" Smith

Robert Wade Smith “Bobby” died Thursday July 22, 2021, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY after a long illness.  He was 62 years old.

He was born November 8, 1958, to Albert C. and Patricia Mullen Smith in Liberty, NY.

For most of his life he was a logger.   His passion was working in the forests of the Great Northwest.  He also spent time fishing in Alaska.

Bobby is survived by his brother and best friend William “Rube” Smith; his sister Sue Huggler and her husband Harold and his brother Harry Smith.  He is also survived by a special niece Erin Smith, nieces Patricia Hitchcock, Barbara Smith, and Shana Smith; nephews Harold, Robert, Michael, and Thomas Huggler.  He had a special bond with his cousins, the Shaver family of Lew Beach, NY.  He is predeceased by his parents, a sister Margaret Smith Nolan, his brother John K. Smith and his beloved aunt Betty Shaver.

Bobby loved telling stories of cutting the big trees and catching the giant halibut.  Throughout his life he traveled everywhere he wanted and did everything he wanted to do but when he came home, he always had a place at the farm in Parksville.

Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11 AM in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
