Rodger Jack Hathaway, Jr.

Rodger Jack Hathaway, Jr. of Livingston Manor, NY a retired Plan Superintendent for New York State Dept. of Corrections and a life long area resident, lost his battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones at home, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 . He was 58.

The son of the late Rodger Jack Hathaway, Sr. and Betty Lucile Tyler Hathaway, he was born October 30, 1965 in Liberty, NY.

Rodger always liked to be busy, working on projects around the house, building things and finding a way to re-purpose an item and re-use it. He enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. He loved camping, especially at the beach in Maine; he loved sitting around the campfire. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children; and he enjoyed sports, watching, playing in high school and -coaching both sons in pee wee football.  

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Hathaway, at home; two sons, Zachary Hathaway and fiancée Samantha Michalek, Jacob Hathaway and his wife Heather (Maxwell) Hathaway; his daughter Emily Hathaway; his siblings, Karen Hathaway (Segar), Craig Hathaway, Cathy Traylor and her husband Mark, Robin Bolles and her husband Patrick ; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was predeceased by is parents, Rodger Jack Hathaway Sr. and Betty Lucile Tyler Hathaway Keator, his sisters, Carla Hathaway and Donna Hathaway Draudt Brickner; one nephew, Thomas Segar; and one niece, Julie Segar Russell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11 AM in St. Aloysius Church, Church Street, Livingston Manor, NY. Father Antony David will officiate.  Burial of cremains will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Livingston Manor, NY. Dignified cremation has been provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC.

Memorial contributions in Rodger’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
