Russell K. Mootz, Sr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Roscoe, NY, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Ft. Pierce, FL. He was 83.
Russell was born in Callicoon, NY; he proudly served Our Country in the US Army during the Korean War; he owned and operated Mootz Sanitation, Roscoe, NY for 30 years; he was a 50 year member of the Roscoe-Rockland Fire Department- Station # 29; and he was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and gardener.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Miller and her husband Patrick of Port St. Lucie, FL and Tammy Mootz of Roscoe, NY; two sons, Russell Mootz Jr. and his wife Maryanne of Roscoe, NY and Scott Mootz and his wife Betty Jo of Roscoe, NY; one step daughter Cecilia Anderson of Mexico Beach, FL, ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Violet and his second wife, Fredyrnne.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6-8 pm in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
The Roscoe-Rockland Fire Department - Station # 29 will conduct services on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 8 pm in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Roscoe/Rockland Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 202, Roscoe, NY 12776.
