Shirley Steele

Shirley M. Steele of Roscoe, NY, formerly of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired office assistant for the Roscoe Motel, Roscoe, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 88.

The daughter of the late John and Ethel Brainard Neer, she was born August 20, 1926 in Horton Brook, NY.

Shirley was a member of the Roscoe Presbyterian Church, Roscoe, NY.

Survivors include three daughters, Debra Kinne and her husband George of Roscoe, NY, step daughters, Gloria Neer and her husband Roger of Roscoe, NY, Patricia Jacobs and her husband Earl of Roscoe, NY; three sons, Duane Steele of Arlington, MA, Darren Steele of Livingston Manor, NY, and Randall Steele and his wife Pat of Cooks Falls, NY; one brother, Roger Neer and his wife Gloria of Roscoe, NY; three sister-in-laws, Laura Neer of Liberty, NY, Katherine Neer Carpenter of Livingston Manor, NY, and Marion Welton of Cape Vincent, NY; two brother in laws, Vernon "Bob" and Luther Steele of Livingston Manor, NY; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Steele of Fremont, NY, 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Steele in 1962; her devoted companion of 44 years, William McUmber; two sons, Raymond Steele and Henry Steele, both in 2015; and grandson, Jason Steele; step daughter, Wilma McUmber Smith and two brothers, John and Richard Neer.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 12 Noon in the funeral home. The Rev. Pam Allen will officiate.

Burial will be in Orchard Street Cemetery, Livingston Manor, NY.
