Stuart Williams

Stuart L. Williams of Downsville, NY, a retired Sandhog with Local #147 in New York City and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at his home. He was 74.

The son of the late Lloyd and Isabelle Eckert Williams, he was born January 12, 1938 in Hancock, NY.

Stuart was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Downsville, NY and a member of the North American Hunting. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, plays and showing animals at the fair. He loved his job as a sandhog and all his brothers in Local #147. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Townsend, at home; two sons, David Williams and his wife Mary and Daniel Williams and his wife Adrienne; three daughters, Jody Elmore, Beth Conklin and her husband Donald and Amy Doig and her husband Mack; one brother, Gradyon Williams; one sister, Ellen Thompkins and her husband "Skip"; four step daughters, Lisa, Nancy, Pat and Pam; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne Easton Williams.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4-8 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Funeral Services will be private. The Rev. Michael Shank will officiate.

Burial will be private in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY.

Memorial contributions in Stuart's name may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church P. O. Box 334, Downsville, NY 13755.
