Sylvester W. "Junior" Bell of Parksville, NY, a the owner and a mechanic at Junior's Garage and a lifelong area resident, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at the James A. Peter's Veteran's Hospital in Bronx, NY. He was 84.
The son of the late Sylvester W. Sr. and Catherine Broadhead Bell, he was born December 16, 1932 in Liberty, NY.
Junior proudly served Our Country in the US Army from 1950 to 1954; he was a member and past commander of the VFW Clarence Hoyt Post # 9217 in Liberty, NY; a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge # 1545; and a member of the Russell D. Sprague American Legion Post # 109. He enjoyed building high performance cars for drag racing and stock car racing; and enjoying time with his pet, Weimer.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Bell of Parksville, NY; his daughter, Terri Marrow of NC; two sisters, Eleanor Wells of Parksville, NY and Beatrice Ratner and her husband Milton of Liberty, NY; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Velma Ernest Bell.
Graveside services and burial with military honors will be Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2 PM in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
