Tanya Hokirk

Tanya J. Hokirk of Liberty, NY, a longtime area resident, died Friday, November 18, 2022 at her home. She was 44.

The daughter of Thomas K. and Jean M. Finkel Rankin, she was born April 3, 1978 in Brooklyn, NY.

Tanya enjoyed cooking, shopping, and caring for others. She was passionate about her work at New Hope, and took pride in being a home health aid. Every year, she looked forward to going to the Walton fair and going apple picking with her family. She especially loved making Christmas cookies with her mother and sister every year. In her later years, Tanya spent most of her time with her canine babies Gizmo and Mindy, whom she loved with all her heart. She made many new meaningful relationships with her friends at DaVita.

Survivors include her parents, Thomas K. and Jean M. Finkel Rankin of North Fort Myers, FL; one brother, David Rankin and his spouse April Winters of Ferndale, NY; one sister, Melissa Lotz and her husband Joseph of Liberty, NY; two children, Brian Hokirk and Jennifer Hokirk; many nieces and nephews including James, Dalton, Cole, Justin, Sean, Austin and Gabriel; her grandchildren; her best friend, Joan Kirianow; and her canine companions, Gizmo and Mindy.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 7PM in the funeral home. Father Edward Bader will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Tanya’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
