The Reverend Gary P. Wilcox, 77, of Liberty, NY, Pastor of the Liberty Assembly of God, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 after a period of declining health.
The son of the late Seeley E. and Dorothy L. Cyr Wilcox, he was born May 24, 1941 in Vergennes, Vermont.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 8 years, Diana T. Skowronski Wilcox, at home; his daughters, Lena Rose Mark and her husband Allan of New Hampshire, Shelby Talerico and her husband Michael of Liberty, NY, and Kathryn Osborn of Monticello, NY; his sons, Chuck Osborn of Queens, NY, and Rob Osborn and his wife MariClare of Indiana; his grandchildren, Nathanael Mark, Samuel Talerico and his wife Sarah, Peter Talerico, Kaitlyn Torres, Emmanuel Torres, and Roberta Osborn; great granddaughter, Kiya Rose Mark; as well as his extended family and friends around the globe. Gary was predeceased after 49 years of marriage by his first wife, Rosetta S. Wilcox on January 7, 2010.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather aka “Pop”, teacher, and mentor. He personified true Christianity and was a neighbor to all.
He lived a full life as a farmer, carpenter, mechanic, car and motorcycle racer, Police Officer, motorcycle gang leader, missionary to Cree Indians, Pastor, crane operator, trailer truck driver, and Chaplin at the Sullivan County Jail. Our best memories are of him retelling stories of his adventures.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2 PM in the Light House Ministries Church, 23 Triangle Road, Liberty, NY. Pastor Richard Ienuso will officiate.
Burial will be in Vermont.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
