Violet Decker

Violet Decker of Liberty, NY, a home maker and a long time area resident, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 88.

The daughter of the late Benjamin Sr. and Julia King Coney, she was born May 7, 1923 in Stillwater, NJ.

Violet was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bailey Richman VFW Post # 9588 in Monticello, NY; a former employee of the VFW Post, the Monticello Central School Cafeteria, Frankie and Johnny's, Mama Russo's, Pat Visco's, and Tuzzo's; for several years she and her late husband operated the Italian-American Club Restaurant in Harris, NY.

Survivors include one son, Clarence V. Decker, Jr. of Liberty, NY; one sister, Ruth Misner and her husband Bucky of Swan Lake, NY; two granddaughters, Wendy Bullaro and her husband Frank of Liberty, NY and Tricia Klein and her husband Richard of Waverly, TN; seven great grandchildren, Darian, Jasmine, and Audrey Bullaro, and Tristan, Richard, Sarah, and Jacob Klein; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Clarence V. Decker, Sr. in 2002; one son, Charles F. Decker; six brothers, Ben Coney, Charles Coney, Ralph Coney, Russell Coney, Emmitt Coney, and Robert Coney; and three sisters, Grace Crumley, Bertha Bush, and Natalie Coney.

Visitation will be Friday (today), February 3, 2012 from 4-7 PM in theHarris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. David Coon will officiate.

Burial will be in the Claryville Cemetery, Claryville, NY.
