Virginia Montag

Virginia M. Montag of Liberty, NY, a retired employee for Grossinger's and Homowack Hotels, and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her home. She was 80.

The daughter of the late Fred Sr. and Arvilla Warren Knapp, she was born December 10, 1934 in Hazel, NY.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond J. Montag, at home; five daughters, Susan Allen and her husband Jerry of Charlotte, NC, Judy Ellis of Livingston Manor, NY; Carol Torres and her husband Hector of Liberty, NY, Dawn Ostrander and her husband John of Livingston Manor, NY; and Wendy Young of Livingston Manor, NY; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one brother, Thurston Knapp of Monticello, NY; two sisters, Donna Finkle of FL and Carolyn LaFrancois of Liberty, NY.

She was predeceased by two sons, Robert Montag and Raymond Montag, Jr.; her brothers, Fred, Vincent, Richard, Ronald and Walt; and her sister, Evelyn.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10 AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Frances Waite will officiate.
