Vivian E. Merrill of Horton Brook, NY, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab. & Residental Health Care Facility, Roscoe, NY. She was 96.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Berry Bowers, she was born February 10, 1919 in Roscoe, NY.

Vivian was a member of the United Church of Roscoe; she enjoyed baking, gardening, quilting, and knitting; she was an avid New York Mets Fan.

Survivors include one son, Arthur Merrill and his partner Pio Deroda of Downsville, NY; two daughters, Ellen Asprion of Horton Brook, NY, and Elizabeth Hutchinson of Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren, Mitchell Bussfeld and his wife Lisa, Brianna Bussfeld, Jessica Stokes and Richard Stokes, Meredith Hutchinson, Justin Hutchinson and his wife Lauren, Ryan Merrill and his wife Jennifer, Brooke Merrill-Ditta, Kimberly Kipp and her husband Ken, Amy Nobes and her partner William Wolfkin, Brenda Jensen and her husband Jeff, and Kate Tietenberg and her husband Eric, 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John G. Merrill; two sons, John Peter Merrill and Malcolm Merrill; two daughters, Muriel Gilbert and Bernita Bussfeld; and her siblings, Helen Lawrence, Etta Bartschi, Otho Bowers, Francis Bowers, and Arthur Bowers.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 3-7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Graveside services and burial will be Monday, July 20, 2015 at 9:30 AM in the Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY. The Rev. Dale Ashby will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Vivian's name may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
