Walter “Edd” Edward Terry of Hamden, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday August 7, 2022 at his home. He was 86.
The son of the late John Calder Terry and Maribelle Hall Terry, he was born May 11, 1936 at his family home on Cal Terry Road in Hamden, NY.
Edd’s life was busy. He worked on the family farm in the Town of Hamden, at the Hamden Creamery, at Dellwood Foods in Frasers, NY; he had worked for the Town of Hamden Highway Dept; and was self employed as Edd Terry’s Garage and Salvage Yard with Towing Services. Edd loved his life, a good challenge, a hard day’s work, hunting, fishing and most of all, sharing a good cold beer with his family and friends.
He had been a life member of the Walton Fire Department, Walton, NY; a founding member of the Hamden Fire Department; and he will be remembered for presenting derby cars for many years for people who participated in the Derby at the Delaware County Fair in Walton, NY. He will also be remembered for his booth at the Delaware County Fair where you could get a good steak sandwich and fresh cut french fries.
Survivors include his daughter, Koni and her husband Gary Updyke of Ocala, FL; his sons, Walter “Tink” Terry of Hamden, NY, John Terry and his companion Michele Palmer of Gastonia, NC, and James Terry and his companion Becky Byington of Hamden, NY; his grandchildren, Christopher Terry of Walton, NY, Ashley Terry Lewiston of ME, Rodney Terry and his companion Brittany Shelton of Sidney, NY, Samantha Terry of Treadwell, NY, Travis Terry and his companion Brooke Adam of Walton, NY, Nicolle Terry of OK, Jillian Terry of Binghamton, NY, Rachel Terry of Walton, NY, and Jase Terry of Hamden, NY; several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Edd was predeceased by his parents; one daughter, Lesa Marie; his brothers, Fred Terry, Don Terry, Pete Terry, Malcom Terry and John Kelder Terry, II; and his sisters, Besse Perez and Maribelle Rutherford.
Graveside services and burial will be Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11 AM in the Hamden Cemetery. The Rev. Bert More will officiate.
