Warren Rinda

Warren C. Rinda of Downsville, NY, a former photographer for Berkey Photo Studio and a Service Manager for Monroe Calculating in New Jersey, passed away on February 24, 2018 at Calvary (Hospice) Hospital in Bronx, NY after a short illness.  He was 89.

The son of the late Emil and Bertha Klecar Rinda, he was born January 6, 1929 in Little Ferry, NJ.  He had lived in Ridgefield Park and Cedar Grove, NJ before retiring and moving to Downsville, NY in 1987.  He married the love of his life, Vera Mika on January 21, 1950 and they were happily married for 67 years.

Warren had many hobbies and loved collecting antiques and old postcards.  His greatest joy in life was collecting antique bottles.  He was especially proud of his collection and could talk for hours to anyone about bottles.  He belonged to the North Jersey Antique Bottle Collectors Association where he was Vice President in 1979 and President in 1980 & 1981.  He also wrote a book in 1987 titled “History and Director of Sodas & Beers”, featuring Newark NJ bottles.  He loved going to auctions (both local and in New Jersey) and did this for many years.  He loved history and anything Civil War related. Warren loved photography and framing old photos, maps and prints.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing; he especially enjoyed bass fishing from his boat on the Pepacton with family and friends.  He worked closely with Cedar Grove, NJ Little League from 1963 to 1970 and received numerous awards for his service; and he enjoyed spending time on Ebay.

Warren enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with Vera and going to locals casinos.  Family vacations were a big part of his life and he would do anything for his family.  He was the kindest man you could know and would give a stranger the shirt off his back.

Survivors include two children, Donna Barnes and her husband Doug of Shinhopple, NY Alan Rinda and his wife Rosi of Downsville, NY; two special nephews, Robert Rinda and his wife Nancy of NC and Richard Rinda and his wife Dorothy of Park Ridge, NJ.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 4 to 6 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.  Deacon Donald Prendergast will officiate a vigil service at 6 PM.

Graveside services and burial will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 3 PM in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Upper Montclair, NJ.
