Wayne E. York of Liberty, NY, a retired switchman for the NY Telephone Company, Liberty, NY, and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, NY. He was 84.
He was born November 3, 1930 in Livingston Manor, NY.
Wayne proudly served Our Country in the US Navy and was a member of the Corp. Russell Sprague American Legion Post #109; he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Liberty, NY; a member of the Pioneer Club; a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader and a life member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Edna B. York, at home; one son, Kurt W. York and his wife Janet L. of Bath, NY; two daughters, Rhonda Goodwin and her husband Paul of NJ and Deidra Gennard and her husband Rocco of Evansville, IN; six grandchildren, Bradley W. York, Konrad S. York, Chelsea Goodwin, Mac Kenzie Goodwin, Olivia Gennard, and Joseph Gennard.
Visitation will be Friday, August 7, 2015 from 10 AM - 12 Noon at the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2015 at 12 Noon in the funeral home. The Rev. Johanna Andritz will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be in the Sullivan County Veteran's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
