William Smith

William A. Smith of Liberty, NY, formerly of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired warehouseman for Yaun Company in Liberty, NY, died Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY after a long illness with his family at his side.

The son of the late Lewis and Mildred M. Davis Smith, he was born in Sidney, NY.

Bill is a graduate of Livingston Manor Central School and proudly served Our Country in the US Army from 1953-1955.  He had worked for several years for Local #17 before being employed by Yaun Company.  He is a former member of the Livingston Manor American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Elma M. Simpson Smith at home; two sons, William L. Smith of Liberty, NY and Steven E. Smith of Liberty, NY; several nieces and nephews, especially Diana Depew and his great niece Doreen Thorpe and her husband Richard and her children, Samantha and Matthew.

He was predeceased by one sister, Vivian Stickley and two brothers, Henry and Nolie Irwin.

The family is grateful and wishes to thank the emergency room staff, 5th floor nurses and aides, and Doctor's Vougious, Kampthan, Omar, Shahzad, Leidner, Selbo, Denis, and Greer; the staff at Achieve Rehab. and Nursing; and Jackie Griswald and the Mobilemedic staff for the care given Bill during his illness.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 10 AM until 11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11AM in the funeral home. The Rev. Francis Waite will officiate.

Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery Cold Spring Road, Liberty, NY
