William J. Meyer “Willy/Willdog” of Hankins, NY a life long area resident died Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home. He was 57.
The son of Donna Relyea Meyer and the late Robert Meyer, he was born August 26, 1967 in Callicoon, NY.
Bill was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church; he was a 40+ year member of the Hankins-Fremont Center Fire Department and a Commissioner for the Hankins-Fremont Center Fire District; and a member of the Fremont Sportsman’s Club.
Survivors include his mother, Donna M. Meyer of Hankins, NY; one brother, Charles Meyer and his wife Tracie of Gaston, SC; three sisters, Tracy Curtis and her husband Dawson of Liberty, NY, Laura Glendon and her husband Donald of Fremont, NY and Debbie Fink and her husband Timothy of Liberty, NY; several cousins; his nieces and nephews, Crystal, Brooke, Joshua, Angelica, Kylee, Chandler, and great nephew, Oakley; his extended family, Tony and Dawn Fredo, Joe Picone and his family, and the fire company membership; and his beloved dog, Willow.
Visitation will be Sunday September 8, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Hankins-Fremont Center Firehouse, 20 Newman Hill Road, Hankins, NY 12741.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Obernburg, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg, NY.
Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Hankins-Fremont Center Fire Department, PO Box 65, Hankins, NY 12741 or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct. Newburgh, NY 12550.
