William Parkinson, Sr.

William J.  Parkinson, Sr. of Liberty, NY, a retired frozen food manger at ShopRite in Liberty & Monticello, NY and a long time area resident, died Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY.  He was 79.

The son of the late James Myles and Mary Alice Trescott Parkinson, he was born November 21, 1941 in Nanticoke, PA.

William proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964; he enjoyed playing cards and he always took meticulous care of his lawn.

He leaves behind one son, William J. Parkinson, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Jeffersonville, NY; two daughters, Irene Davenport and her husband Thomas of Shickshinny, PA and Brenda Mullinax and her husband Drew of NC; one sister, Mary Barker of TN; four grandchildren, Rosemarie, Jackie, David and Steven; and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Wilson Parkinson in 2012.

Visitation will be Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.  Funeral services with military honors will begin at 7PM in the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Sorber Cemetery in Shickshinny, PA at a later date.
