Lynn Wachter

Lynn Wachter of Roscoe, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, June 20, 2022 at her home.  She was 72.

The daughter of the late Oscar E., Jr. and Vivian Thomas Ropke, she was born January 17, 1950 in Callicoon, New York.

Lynn had been a foreign language teacher for 32 years at the former Delaware Valley Central School in Callicoon, NY and retired after many years of teaching at Roscoe Central School, Roscoe, NY.  She had been a Board of Education Member; a member of the RCS Teachers’ Association; NYSUT; a member of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club; a member of the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club; and a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  Lynn was an avid reader, gardener and she enjoyed traveling.  She was an animal lover and enjoyed her cats.

Survivors include her many friends; most of whom she considered family.  She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Steven Ropke.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.

Graveside services and burial will be Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2 PM in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.  Father Antony David will officiate.
